Simply Grown Films Logo Bumper
Sorry for the long delay in posting. Been busy trying to finish up the Templar Nation project. But that is all coming to a close, and I will be able to move onto other projects. But, with the little free time I have, I have been taking time on some smaller projects and practices. And this is one example of the fruits of that free time. I haven’t taken much time to do any 2D animation for almost 3 years, and I thought I would practice some really simple stuff. This definitely isn’t character animation, but it is still fun to look at.Just a little glimpse at what will be coming in the future on my blog. Android app development, concept art and some 3D art as well. So thank you for reading, and stay tuned for some good stuff in the near future. -

Alchemy and Frustration
A glimpse at one of my Alchemy brainstorms and then a bunch of unsuccessful sketches…
I was thinking about other artists that I know, and how we express our frustrations from time to time. I don’t want to spread the negativity around at all, but I thought I would post a little session from a few days ago. I am not sure what was going on that evening, but I just couldn’t get anything I liked out onto the canvas, and decided to bag it. After an hours worth of research and sketching. It just doesn’t work out sometimes. And what I usually have to do, when I run into “artist’s block” is just drop what I am doing and do something completely unrelated. (Read a book, video games, talk to friends, etc…). But just so you all know, I deal with this allot. And, I would like to leave you with a word of advice. Don’t get frustrated, stick it out, it will pass. And when it does finally work, it will feel that much better.

loosening Up
I wanted to record one of my loosening up sessions in Gimp, to get an idea of how I am doing right now. And I thought to myself, why not throw a song behind it and post it.
I have been doing allot of value sketches before I start into a longer piece. This obviously helps me light a scene, but it also helps me focus on the overall composition, rather than color and other details. I have found that I quickly become attached to my ideas, without trying other perspectives of the same idea, before its too late. Doing value paintings puts me into a situation where I could throw away or change an idea, without feeling guilty. -

Workin’ Them Projects.
Being busy is a good thing. At least it makes me feel like I am doing something productive.
I am currently working on a couple projects. So doing allot of what they call “creative thinking” to drive the concept art I am working on. Its been fun seeing what comes out of the abyss which is my mind.
I have been able to fit in some personal work as well. I will have some more character designs posted in the next few days.
But in the meantime, I have been doing some small updates to www.thor-media.net . Go check it out! I have posted a few new recent works up. Also did some updates to the kiosk page. There will be another update there in the next few days as well. I have been working on a commercial for something called the iCuff, and I will have that posted soon. And it is 100% blender.

Here’s a Preview
Been a little while since I have posted anything. (been busy with work, the same excuse that many people use). So I thought I would post a preview of a personal project, that I have been working on lately.
Obviously allot of perspective in this one. Wanted to create a sense of extreme depth both vertically and horizontally. To bring focus to the character and to make it seem that that character is being dragged away from the viewer.
I think that I might title this one “Lost on the Path”.

Red | Work in Progress
Here is a piece that I have been working on for the past few days.
I am recording the process for this one and I am planning on posting a time lapse of it in the near future. Probably a week from now.
Also, when I am finished and have it posted, I will go over some of the symbolism involved in this piece.
Trying to go for something that has a little bit more meaning. -

Thor Media LLC
Another thing that I have neglected to post for a while now. Thor Media’s website has been up and in a basically competed state for quite sometime now. Thor-Media.net.
We have posted almost all the work that we have done since the beginning of the year, and there is plenty to check out on the website.
Here are some highlights that you must check out.
This is a jeep that I modeled, textured, and animated. My Brother Jacob is the one that did the compositing and anything final for the shot.
The Alliance – Jeep (Breakdown)These are the two main demo reels for the work that we have done so far.
Video Production Demo Reel
Motion Graphics Demo ReelThere is still much more to look at. Check out the main page, and click on everything! Everything has something to show.

Another Character Animation
Here is another character animation with this new rig. I am planning on doing some more complicated stuff soon, and I think I a going to try texturing her as well.
